Pizza dough for the crust

The quality of the pizza ultimately relies on the crust. While a crust that is too hard makes it difficult to eat, a crust that is too limp can make the pizza leather. For your convenience it is best to buy ready-made pizza crusts in the super market, which you then only have to divide into smaller circular pieces. You can also buy a pack of instant pizza dough, which only needs to be added with water. Do you prefer to make your own pizza dough? Here is the recipe:

Pizza dough ingredients:

  • 500 grams of flour
  • 250 ml of lukewarm water
  • 1 bag of yeast (7 g)
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 4 spoons of olive oil

Mix the flour, salt, oil and yeast in a bowl and stir it for a few moments. Then, add 200 ml of water and work the whole to a flexible and elastic dough. Add, little by little, the remaining water until the dough becomes nicely elastic, but not too wet (sticky). If necessary, you may use a food processor with dough hooks. Cover the bowl with a piece of cloth. Let the dough rise for about 45 minutes until its volume has doubled. Next, roll out the dough to a 3 mm thick patch. Carve out the circles with the shape dough. Powder the circles for preventing them to stick and put them on a plate or board. You can put them on the table like this, as a basis for the pizza gourmet-party.
SUGGESTION 1: Mix the dough with some herbs, such as oregano, parsley, garlic powder, or chive for an even tastier pizza crust.
SUGGESTION 2: Do you have a bread machine? This also has a function to make dough. All you have to do is to put all the ingredients in the mixing bowl and to choose the right programme. Totally easy!

Do you lack the time to make dough by yourself? In the supermarket you can buy all kinds of simple ready-made solutions. Ranging from packs of pizza dough mix, which only needs water to be added, to dough that just needs to be cut out to the right size. This includes even tomato sauce. Note that this dough needs to be rolled out somewhat thinner. It will then yield more pizza crusts, making the pizzas more crusty at the same time. if you do not own a rolling pin, a (wine) bottle can be used instead.
